Start Here! Overview of how this course works in Canvas
About this course
Each week starts with an "Overview" page like this one where I'll explain that week's goals, and include a list of expectations (readings and assignments). Readings won't show up on your calendar or to-do list, but you can add reminders for yourself.
Since most assignments are turned in within Canvas, you'll be able to use "Grades" to follow your course progress. You'll note there is a 'what ifLinks to an external site.' feature that allows you to see what your grades could be depending on scores you might get (but you aren't actually changing your grades).
I'll add the Power Point (I go over in class) to each week's module.
Canvas Navigation
The weekly "module" is where you'll also find the list of readings, videos and assignments. Once you selected a specific reading or assignment, you can select 'Next' to move to the next reading, video or assignment for that week. You'll know you've reached a new weekly module because each week starts with an overview page.
For pages like this I have turned on the capability for you to mark them as done (check the upper right corner). Once you've marked this page done, the circle on the module view will turn to a green checkmark. You must complete this Start Here - Course and Canvas Orientationto be able to start Week 1 content.
When looking at the whole class in the Modules view, note you can expand or collapse each week by select the carrot arrow buttons.
If you have questions about the course or assignment expectations, be sure to post them in the "Ask Questions about THIS class" discussion forum.
If you are having technical difficulty use the Help feature built into Canvas (lower left corner on computers, and within 'global navigation' under the hamburger () in the Canvas app).
I've turned on the "Assignment" link in the course navigation so you can go directly there to turn in Assignments, but remember they usually relate to readings that are found in the weekly module.
You can create groups to work on projects from the "People" link in the course navigation.
