Wiki: Contribute your question to the Midterm Exam
Please submit a question for the midterm in the wiki below.
Please submit a question for the midterm in the wiki below. Add on to the existing text by clicking on the "Edit" tab (not the "comments" tab).
Do not delete text by others. This is so that the whole class can contribute collaboratively to creating a list of questions for the midterm exam.
When you are proposing a question, please note that the exams in this course are open-book essay exams, and, as such, do not focus on isolated facts and the like.
As I mentioned early on, including in my welcome e-mail, "Some students are used to principally memorizing facts in classes. This class is not one where that is the focus. It is about investigating new topics, reading, listening, synthesizing ideas, thinking, exploring, and becoming familiar enough with the various subjects, peoples and places to carry on an intelligent conversation in modern-day society." So please take note of that and be creative in proposing questions that try to explore and synthesize ideas. While the questions that follow are fine for their kind, multiple-choice and true/false questions will not be part of the exams.
