Remember these tips for recognizing plagiarism and citing sources correctly:
- Be honest.
- If you use a source in your paper, be sure to cite it.
- Write down your source when taking notes.
- Don’t “cut and paste.” Don’t download/buy a term paper.
- Check with your professor to make sure you are using the correct citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.).
- Place all directly quoted materials in quotation marks and include a parenthetical citation.
- Identify sources from which you paraphrase or summarize.
- Include ALL of your sources in a bibliography.
