Engaging Faculty with OER Publishing
Publishing open educational resources can be a challenging yet rewarding experience for faculty. They can design content around their learning objectives, better serve their students, and make an impact on their field of study.
If you plan to support faculty in writing and publishing OER, the Introduction to OER Publishing Workshop is an adaptable resource you can use to highlight key concepts.
Introduction to OER Publishing Workshop
The Introduction to OER Publishing Workshop is a presentation for you to deliver to faculty on your campus. It builds the case for authoring an open textbook and introduces what's involved in the process. The workshop is typically an hour, but may be longer, depending on what you'd like to cover about the support you offer faculty locally.
The workshop walks through traditional and open publishing and licensing models, the ways in which publishing OER allows for contextualizing, customizing and amplifying underserved voices, and how these features positively impact student success.
