This week in India, the United States is disappointed with the lack of action in the
situation in Ukraine. According to Al Jazeera’s article 'Unsatisfactory... but unsurprising’:
US on India’s Ukraine stand, America is displeased with the upheld ties that India has
with Russia. Indian leaders have in recent years corresponded with leaders in the US in
regards to China. Personally speaking, this news is unsurprising to me as the US keeps
warmongering with NATO countries, and wants other countries to join them in the
mongering. India is doing the right thing by staying out of NATO and Russian Affairs.I
support the peoples of Ukraine and Russia. Both of which are fighting in dying for a war
that has been made by corrupt and rich leaders.
India has been having a surge of people visiting India for healthcare reasons. As
thousands of people cannot afford healthcare in their home countries, many have come
to India in search of more affordable healthcare. Priti Gupta & Ben Morris of the BBC
write in their article, Why patients are flocking to India for surgery, more people are
getting the help that they need, and that even includes cosmetic surgeries. Gupta and
Morris also mention the rise of scam doctors that are untrained and underqualified. This
article is particularly exciting to read as millions of people in the United States cannot
afford healthcare, and India is beginning another option for people. I also feel that this
article spends too much time on warning its reader on the dangers of fake doctors. They
definitely exist, however I believe that most people will do proper research to find a
good doctor for them. Healthcare is a basic human right and if people cannot get it in
their country they will go elsewhere.
Writing with Fire, a documentary that was made in the Khabar Lahariya region of
India has been nominated for an academy award! The BBC writes in their article,Oscars
2022: Writing with Fire puts spotlight on India's underdogs, is getting quite the reaction
worldwide. This slice of life story has given more people a view on how the peoples of
the area are currently living, and how new technology such as cell phones are bringing
new ways of life into their towns and villages. It is tremendously exciting to see film in
India get recognized as many are familiar with Bollywood, but to see actual people just
living their daily lives is an honor to watch. Film in the west has always been
inaccessible for many people, but to see a further pushing of the envelope to present
new stories of real folk gives me hope..
