Unit 4: Reflective Questions

These questions are both content review and practical preparation for your open textbook publishing projects.

1. What are your institution’s existing policies related to generative AI usage (e.g., in coursework, in professional communication)?
2. In your role, what are the expectations regarding your expertise with AI? Are you expected to be an authoritative resource for AI questions? Is there a defined support contact at your institution for YOUR questions?
3. When considering content transparency and AI attribution, do you believe those factors should be primarily defined by the author or the publisher?
4. How might the use of AI benefit your publishing program?
5. What ways can you imagine assisting faculty with using AI for their OER  projects?
6. What types of AI-generated content might your authors want to incorporate into the OER you publish? Do your guidelines change based on the type of content they want to create?
7. Would you suggest faculty use AI to help organize their textbook?
