Unit 2: Reflective Questions

These questions are both content review and practical preparation for your open textbook publishing projects.

1. How would you describe your current publishing profile? Do you have active projects or programs?
2. What publishing roles are you qualified or interested in filling? Who on your team or in your organization may be able to play a role?
3. Do you have a university press or other potential partner organization at your institution?
4. What do you want to communicate via your publishing imprint and brand? What do you want your key readership, students, to think when they pick up an open textbook your organization has published?
5. Are ready to implement a call for proposals? If not, what additional resources do you need in place?
6. Do you have an author agreement and contract that works with the intellectual property policy on your campus?
7. Are you going to recommend and/or support particular authoring and publishing platforms?
