Module 2, Hallmarks of OEP Overview (2 weeks)
Learning Objectives
- Define and illustrate the primary characteristics of open educational practices (OEP).
- Identify concrete examples of OEP and evaluate their suitability for different communities of practice and modes of learning as well as limitations and challenges to their effectiveness.
- Begin to analyze the connection between OEP and related values-based practices such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Lambert’s framework for social justice (2018).
Overview
In this module, we define both OEP and social justice principles. As we become more familiar with them, we will evaluate their merit for inclusive design and cultural relevance. We will utilize peer connections and discussion to analyze OEP through Lambert's framework for social justice, alongside other social justice perspectives. Together, we will be building a foundation of thought that connects OEP and values-based practices such as UDL.
