Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI)
Learn About
- What Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) means.
- How to insert university approved LTI tools in your course.
- The importance of checking LTI tools for accessibility.
Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) provides a means of seamlessly connecting Web-based, externally hosted applications and content to Canvas courses. You can easily add university-approved LTI tools to your Canvas course by clicking Course Settings and selecting the Apps tab.
The accessibility of neither third-party LTI tools nor their Canvas interface can be easily determined through an automated process. So, to ensure the accessibility of your course and any included LTI tools, it is a good practice to conduct some research and accessibility testing of the tools you want students to use.
LTI tools can be leveraged to assess and improve accessibility of Canvas courses.
- Automated accessibility testing software
- Enhanced communications and media modules
- Editors for creating accessible STEM content
