Essay response is (1) WELL FOCUSED in that it answers the question(s) and relates directly and specifically to knowledge and comprehension of class materials prompted by the question(s); answer is complete (deals fully with the entire question), and answer focuses only on issues related to the question(s) (i.e., avoids unrelated issues); (2) WELL ORGANIZED in that the response is clearly worded, defined, and developed (including relevant clear transitions); (3) WELL SUPPORTED in that it reflects analysis-synthesis-evaluation of class materials that is factually correct, with sufficient relevant detail provided to support assertions; (4) where appropriate, answer includes application to one’s own experiences and/or a specified delimited problem situation; (5) response does not substantially duplicate or overlap other answers in this exam, or materials from extra credit report(s) or semester project.
