GC GETTING STARTED OVERVIEW

Welcome to Anthropology 1080

Global Cultures

This will be a great course, and a great experience.

You will see. . . .

Picture of Tim Roufs, Brisbane, Australia, 2017.

Classes officially start on Monday, the 26th of August 2024.

Between now and then you are welcome to look around at your leisure, check out the course, and (for you pre-crastinators) to order the textbook on-line (if that is an attractive option for you). With all of the goings-on this fall, you might want to get a head start in at least ordering your textbook—a textbook that is actually interesting and fun to read (well, at least it is after you get past the first chapter). . . . You also might want to get started reading some of the other interesting materials that we have for the class (if you are the kind of person who likes to do that sort of thing).

See Step 4: Acquire Textbook and Become Familiar with Reading Sources.

You might also want to start watching one or other of the international-award-winning films and videos that we have lined up for the class.

If neither of these options applies to you, and you just feel like a little more late-autumn procrastination is in order, just relax and enjoy the weather—wherever you happen to be, and enjoy the rest of your break.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, let me know at troufs e-mail.

Best Wishes for the rest of your summer break,

Tim Roufs

P.S. Again, if you are new to the  course management system don't worry too much about that.  Canvas has a very good orientation tutorial and we have an excellent technical staff at UMD to help out.
