Living Off-Campus
Most students choose to live on campus when beginning their University career - classes are close, it provides easy access to campus resources, and it's a simple way to make friends.
Some students choose to live off campus. If you're not familiar with securing temporary housing (like rentals and lease), it's helpful for you and your student to consider things like:
- Total cost (including application fees, security deposits, utilities [listed below], as well as rent itself)
- Utilities (e.g., heat, electricity, gas, water/sewer)
- Lease term (e.g., 12 month, 10 month, month-to-month)
- Garbage/Recycling
- Internet/Cable
- Distance from campus and transportation between campus and work
