Overview
This template is designed with a modular structure and no home page. It is easy to customize for your course. To organize your modules in a way that is clear to your students, use Text Headers Links to an external site. to help clarify which topics are taught within the week or which weeks are covering the topics (select Home to see this now). Note that when students are first learning Canvas, Text Headers can be misleading as students think they should be able to select and open a new page. If you'd like more information on the basics of Canvas, spend some time working your way through our UMN Canvas Learning Center.

Links to an external site. depending on how you organize your course.
- We have added a few hints to help you complete the set-up within the modules view. These hints are hidden from students (as they are unpublished or considered in 'draft state Links to an external site.'). Published items will have a green check next to them.
- If you use Weeks, here's a list of Spring 2017 Weekly dates Links to an external site. that you can copy/paste into the Weekly Titles.
- When you want to add a resource to a Week/Unit Links to an external site., use the gray + button next to each module title (note that links to external websites are called "external URL Links to an external site.").
- UMN Twin Cities Library Course Reserves can also be enabled.
- When you upload a file Links to an external site.into Canvas it will often come through with a file name that doesn't make sense to students. It is good practice to rename your original file (before uploading into Canvas). Use a file name that would help students find that particular resource (Title of article or Authors names or Subject). You can change the name of the link to the file in Canvas but has lead to confusion for you and students. You can also restrict access to files and folders Links to an external site..
