Our CEHD tech support doesn't think Proctorio is really great, either at working well or at solving cheating problems. CEHD tech support says that some problems include:

Tech support is hard if students use multiple different devices and age of devices because software may behave differently
It can create a high pressure environment where people fidget, look away, or they are just naturally fidgety people, and Proctorio flags them as suspicious
They recommend project-based learning more than depending on Proctorio for cheating-free tests.
They recommend reviewing the Student Code of Conduct in the syllabus before major assessments; dialogue with class about how the class should deal with this Code; explain consequences if it is broken.

However, it appears UMN folks like you have access to it. One interesting idea in the first link is that you can use proctorio for group tests and monitor each person's contribution. This seems like a midway approach between keeping tests with some security and totally changing to project-based assessments.

I am more interested in doing models, project, capstone projects, authentic assessments instead of focusing grading on tests when teaching online.
