Arduino Getting Started

Prerequisite: Cage Access

No "certification" required for using Arduino. Feel free to get started any time!

Here are a bunch of videos Links to an external site. from a guy (Paul McWharter) who is passionate about teaching Arduino. You might just start with video 1 and work your way through them. We have all the hardware you need to get started in the Makerspace.

If you want to have some training we can help you but really, it is pretty easy to just get started. Send me a note if you have questions.

LEDs and resistors.

What forward voltage Links to an external site. is needed by color? This page has that info

This one is about the ohms law calculation to choose the right resistor. Links to an external site.

This Links to an external site. may be useful also.

Other helpful videos to watch if you have forgotten Ohm's law. It will come in handy!

Here is the first step offered by Jeremy Blum (14 minutes (but only 9 at 1.5 speed)

If you have extra time . . . check out this second video from Jeremy. (20 min)

This may be the next one - all about teaching the volts and amps you might have heard about in physics. If you "learned it" in Physics you won't need this tutorial as you already know it.

And if you really want to know something about electricity check this.

Here is a great page Links to an external site. (including video) on ohms law calculations in series and parallel circuits from Digikey. Extra bonus is some snappy music!!

Here is another great series of electronic Tutorials. It is called the engineering mindset Links to an external site..
