Canvas Course Analytics webinar (Nov 2018)
Every action that students and instructors take in a Canvas course site generates data. These data can be used for a wide range of activities such as evaluating individual components of a course and evaluating student performance. The Canvas Course Analytics tool was created to help interpret data in a meaningful way.
Questions to ask of course data
What kinds of questions might you want to know about the performance of the students in this course? The following questions provide examples.
- Which assignment did students struggle with the most (lowest average grade)?
- Which exam had the lowest/highest average grade?
- Compare the grades of the two sections in this course. Which section is performing better/worse?
- How can I identify the student with the best/worst performance in the course?
- How can I compare the grades of two students (and what would that tell me about them)?
- What is the grade distribution for a particular assignment or exam?
