MUS 3116 (001) Music and Identity (Fall 2019)

Home

Music is a pervasive element of our lives and it is something we encounter every day. People often use music to construct and express identity, both as individuals and in larger social groups. In this course we will examine some of the ways in which this occurs through an examination of both how individuals and larger groups use and perceive music in terms of identity. We will look at how this works as well as examples of how music is used in expressing and perceiving identity.
