Overview

When we talk about learning analytics we’re talking about actionable data and useful tools that can support and improve teaching and learning. The Review, Amend, Apply framework guides faculty through the process of using available learning analytics tools to identify learning data, then establishing a feedback loop with students to help faculty interpret the data and discover the actions that would be most impactful.

The course is split into three sections that correspond with the steps of the Review, Amend, Apply framework:

  • Review the Canvas learning data available to you.
  • Amend your understanding of the data you’ve gathered with student feedback to ensure accuracy.
  • Apply evidence-based interventions in your classroom based on your insights.

Each module begins with learning objectives and activities to help you apply the material to your courses.

How to Use This Site

In order to make good use of these sequenced and self-directed modules, we suggest that you

  • Review resources in the START HERE module;
  • Identify a past course that you have taught in Canvas (one which contains student data) and use it to explore tools, review learning data, and identify questions that might be addressed with data; and
  • Make a copy of the Using the RAA Framework: Guiding Questions document available in this module, and use it to document your own exploration. At the conclusion of each module you will be prompted to return to the Guiding Questions to reflect and document your thoughts.
