Anderson - Ventilation, Perfusion Matching
Instructor(s): Lisa Anderson
Session Objectives:
- Explain the significance of and be able to calculate a person’s alveolar-arterial PO2 difference (A-a gradient or A-aDO2).
- Describe a normal ventilation/perfusion ratio ( VA/Q ).
- Define ventilation perfusion mismatch
- Predict how abnormal ventilation perfusion ratios will affect local PAO2 and PACO2.
- Define shunt and dead space.
- Explain how Ventilation perfusion ratios vary within the lung in a healthy, upright adult.
