“Fast-Track VISA System to Woo Foreign Sci-Tech Talent”
Foreign Students who are getting doctorates in either science or technology, are now having an easier
time receiving permanent residence within South Korea. It is eligible for non-Korean students who earn
a master’s degree at 37 specialized schools, who show outstanding achievements or continue research
right after graduating from college.
“Vaccine Pass Rule Lifted at Department Stores, Big Marts, and Schools”
The verification of a vaccine or a negative PCR test is no longer required in large places such as
department stores, large supermarkets, or private education. However, in places with higher rates of
contamination such as public saunas, karaoke rooms, and cafes, the pass will need to be shown. In the
end, this is just a temporary measure, and will be modified if the quarantine situations worsen.
“Oral Medication for COVID-19 to First go to Elderly, Those with Lower Immunity”
The CDC headquarters in South Korea have given the okay for the use of a new pill, the Pfizer Paxlovid. It
will be given to those 65 and over, along with those with lower immune systems, who show low to
medium level symptoms. It is there to help treatment centers have low levels of immunization. The
patients must take the pill in the morning and at night over the course of 5 days and are prohibited from
selling leftover tablets. The pills are free regardless of the recipient’s vaccination history.
