On Monday 01/31/2022, two German police officers were killed in the line of duty conducting a routine traffic stop in Kusel, Germany. A 29-year-old policeman and a 24-year-old policewoman were killed. This act of violence quickly became headline news across Germany due to the fact that this is the first time in 11 years that an officer has been killed in the Rhineland-Palatinate state. The slaying of the officers led the German police on a manhunt that is still underway. One of the suspects is said to be known by police as they dealt with them before for a hit and run violation. Later Monday evening, German police released the information of the suspect and warned the public that he was armed and to report any information. Warnings were given throughout the state to refrain from picking up any hitchhikers.
