Quantitative Learning Center

The Quantitative Learning Center (QLC)

  • Meet the QLC Assistants! Schedule an appointment with a QLC Peer Assistant on Penji.
    • At the moment you can sign up for assistance with Mathematica, or RStudio as these are the areas most in need of support. For other tools listed below, just make an appointment with the associated Peer Assistant.
      • Elliot: Programming (Python, C++, Java, etc.) and math support for any class
        • Drop-in hours: Mondays 6-7, Wednesdays 6-7
      • Abby: general calculus, differential equations
  • Drop-In Hours in Briggs Library (QLC and Tutoring Nook)

The Quantitative Learning Center (QLC) is located in Briggs 260 on the main floor of Briggs Library, conveniently located close to the Tutoring Nook and the Writing Room. The QLC is a collaborative study area staffed by peer and faculty math, statistics and STEM learning assistants providing one-on-one assistance to students.

The QLC is a hub for quantitative technology skill building, where you can increase your comfort utilizing tools including RStudio, Mathematica, and Excel as well as building mastery of foundational mathematical and statistical concepts used in other majors.

This canvas site is available to Morris students, instructors, and staff as a place we can share quantitative technology resources. Unlike tutoring which is focused on support for a particular course, the QLC's focus is additional support for students (Instructors should be the primary support) on 1xxx level course technology and skills students need to be successful in those courses.

For help with writing, you should visit the Writing Center. If you want help with the tools you are using to format mathematics, see the resources below. Although Google Docs can be useful, when you need to format a significant amount of mathematics Word or LaTeX is a better option.
