Each of you selects a particular role in your Team Project as a Communicator, Design Lead, or Project Manager.
As the Communicator for your team you need to come up with the ways that everyone will meet weekly and share work finished (e.g. you can use the group page on Canvas, shared google docs, meet via google hangout, set up a team email/chat/text string etc.). Your responsibility will be outlining the tasks, timeline, and responsibilities for completing the Statement of Design Intent and working with your team members to assign different sections and/or editing of this document. Communicators may want to get the discussion started on which project to select. Submit these tasks as part of the larger schedule of tasks in this assignment.
As the Design Lead for your team you need to make a list of tasks for creating the design and CAD modeling of parts and assembly for your about your model and who will do each of those tasks. Submit these tasks as part of the larger schedule of tasks in this assignment. Each team member needs to model roughly a third of the parts in the assembly for your final design, your design must include at least three parts. The Design Lead will need to do design research, which could include market research about currently available commercial products or a patent search.
As the Project Manager you will need to create an overall list of tasks, timeline, and responsibilities for what needs to get done each week by whom based on input from the Communicator and the Design Lead. Project Managers will check in with the Communicator and Design Lead and help get any work done that is needed. Project Managers are responsible for making sure that everyone knows what they need to work on and has the help they need to get those tasks done. Project Managers will draft the Contribution Statement that states exactly which parts of which assignments each team member worked on that all team members will edit before submitting.
