Safety Considerations

Write a paragraph statement (no more than one page) considering the safety of end users of your Team Design.

Read the following list of potential safety hazards provided by Dr. Robert Feyen, Director of the Masters in Environmental Health & Safety program.

If designing a toy or object that will be used by children evaluate whether the toy meets the specifications set up by the ASTM F963-17 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety standard which is condensed into this spreadsheet Download spreadsheet

In your statement answer the following questions:

Can any part pinch or impede fingers, hands, or other body parts?

Can any assembly pinch or impede fingers, hands, or other body parts?

Does any part or assembly pose any hazards as described in the hazard list?

If any hazards are identified, how was the design made (or modified) to address these concerns to keep end users safe?

For toys in particular, are any of the specifications set by the ASTM F963-17 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety standard not met by the design? If yes, how was the design made (or modified) to meet all specifications.
